Man, I have GOT to start updating this thing again.

I got a call for my friend and roommate words_in_a_row while he was out of town. It was one of these totally scary (albeit cute) girls we met in Boston while we were there on business. I have no idea how she got the number... I would have bet that Foster was way too drunk that night to remember his own name, let alone our phone number.

Anyway, she wanted to talk to him right then and wouldn't take "he's out of town" for an answer. I wasn't going to give her the info, but ... well, let's just say she was persuasive. *shudder* What the heck, he can take care of himself.

In other news, I'm worried about my friend and co-worker Phil. He's always been kind of a recluse (and admittedly, he has good reason to be), but lately he seems more withdrawn than usual. I think he feels lonely since he moved here. The problem is, I'd be happy to talk it over with him but I don't feel comfortable being the one to bring it up.

I'll update more later - I have stuff I want to write down and mull over, but I keep forgetting that I have this outlet.

So is anybody still out there listening? Any advice on how to handle my concerns about Phil?

I got an e-mail from someone asking if they could friend me, and it reminded me that I haven't posted in here for... let me check... more than a year. (!)

Anyway, right now Foster (words_in_a_row) and our friend Samantha are having a heavy discussion in the kitchen, so I figured since I couldn't get at that leftover spaghetti, I might as well update this journal a bit.

We just got back from a trip to Boston for the paper. I think Foster finally believes the truth about the Comet now. (No, I still can't tell you what I mean by "the truth." Sorry.) Anyway, after we finished our business for the paper, Foster and I went to this local bar to get pickled and we met these girls who recognized him from his past in porn! (they were really cute and incredibly scary all at the same time. Hope I get back up that way sometime so I can find out if the authorities have caught up with them yet.)

I'll try to keep this thing going now. Maybe I'll make it a New Year's resolution.

I have a lot to post about what went on around here Thanksgiving week, but I just haven't been in the journaling mood. Watch this space.

In other news, Foster (words_in_a_row) came in to the paper to interview with Mr. Detweiler today. As I figured it would be, the interview was pretty much a formality - they already had the cubicle next to mine cleared out and ready for him.

It's such a relief that he finally knows the truth about the Comet so we can talk about it... although I don't think he really believes it yet despite meeting Phil.
A friend of mine recommended LiveJournal to me and I thought I'd give it a day in court. I have no idea if anyone but me will ever read this, but Cheffie tells me that people have a way of "friending" you (god, I hate it when other people turn nouns into verbs and here I am doing it) based on interests or even at random, so who knows.

So anyone who feels like adding me to your list, go ahead. I'll most likely add you back. I may trim my list from time to time if you aren't interesting, though. :) I'll try to be interesting myself.

I'm not sure how often I'll be updating. I can't say some of the most interesting things about my job because of a non-disclosure agreement I signed. There should be enough to fill the odd entry, though. On a more general level, I'm not quite convinced this will be therapeutic for me. I've always regarded journaling the way I regard masturbation: There's nothing shameful about it, and it's a healthy way to blow off steam, but it's best done in private and not discussed publicly. This is a new outlook for me; we'll see how it goes.
